400 Strong pack strikes fear into isolated siberian village

I really wish people would co-exist with wolves instead of shooting them there an then and trapping them. Its so inhumane.

If their livestock wasn't free roaming then things would be a little different. They are only attacking their horses and deer but not the goats, sheep or people but thats only due to their natural prey are decreasing because of no food for them so the wolves have taking the easy way to feed. But maybe next year the wolves prey will be up again so they'll be hunting on that again...

From what I've studied for my wolf behaviour ranchers in America where trying out different methods to stop the wolves from attacking their live stock. Why cant the Siberian villigers take a leaf out from their book?

Wolf experts are saying that there had never been a 400-strong pack before coming together. it also doesn't help that they've put a £200 price on a wolfs pelt.

So what are your thougths/ideas?

That article seems to have so much bias on it...

There are special conditions that attributed to these attacks on the livestock, so the Siberian village never before really had to protect against wolf attacks prior to this event. As such, they're taking the most direct cut-and-dry approach they know.

If this was an event more reoccurring, such as what's similar to the livestock attacks we see in the States, then perhaps it would be a bit more different. The attacks probably still would have happened, but perhaps not as severe.

Not much to really do about it at this point except hope that perhaps they will better protect the livestock for next time.
I need a new sig.

I find it has a very creative flair to it.

400 wolves would need A LOT more than 30 horses to keep all members fed. Not only that, I think it is, more than likely, a larger than usual pack that has been hyped up for publicity.

Shame about the hunting, though.
